The New Amsterdam Trail commemorates the legendary journey of Henry Hudson for the Dutch to New York 400 years ago. The unique character of New York, originally New Amsterdam, has been shaped by the legacy of the multiethnic, entrepreneurial and tolerant culture of 17th century Amsterdam. The trail covers sites from as far south as the Battery to the northern boundary at Wall Street. The accompanying audio tour takes you on a journey through 17th century New Amsterdam and introduces you to its diverse and fascinating first residents.
